Regarding Six Flags

The letter was sent out Wednesday, March 16th, asking that you return it by Friday, the 18th. The purpose was to determine by that time if you would or would not be able to bring the money in by March 25th, so that we could plan everything. In order to make a trip on April 2nd, the bus request had to be in by the 18th. Of the 78 unique members of Concert & Symphonic Bands, I had only received a total of 17 letters back by that time....6 in Concert Band, 6 in Symphonic Band, 2 who play in both, and 3 color guard. Only 3 more brought theirs in Monday and Tuesday.

Monday, the festival coordinator called me. He said if we'd have our registration in by Wednesday [today...a $100 commitment], he would go ahead and order the plates for the trophies. I could not commit to that based off of lots of people saying, "oh, I'll bring mine in tomorrow." I had to cancel. Next time around, I will be sure that we plan better/further ahead. But we have to respect deadlines and understand that there are lots of details and people to coordinate for an event like that. We have to have concrete commitments to move forward.
